Destruction Bay, Yukon
This is a small community on the Alaska Highway next to Kluane Lake. It lies 19 km southeast of Burwash Landing and is home to approximately 43 people. Originally built as a construction camp for the Alaska Highway, Destruction Bay was named for a severe windstorm that occurred in the 1940s.
This area is the traditional territory of the Kluane first Nation. The majority of the First Nation people from this area identify themselves as descendants of Southern Tutchone speakers.
Kluane Lake School

We are a kindergarten to grade eight school located between the St. Elias mountain range and the shores of Kluane Lake. We may be small but we don’t let that stop us from exploring big ideas.
There are 8 students enrolled for the 2016/17 school year in K4 to Grade 8.
For more information about the school visit kls.yukonschools.ca.
Kluane Lake’s School Food Program
The school operates a breakfast, lunch and snack program. The funding that the school receives from Yukon Food for Learning Association is provided by Yukon Health and Social Services and Breakfast Club of Canada.
